Parcel-gilt silver kovsh of traditional shape with raised prow, the bowl with repoussé foliate scrolls and stylised buds within geometric forms, the upper edge engraved with a Cyrillic inscription. Struck beneath the handle with maker's mark in Cyrillic beneath the Imperial Warrant, 84 standard.
By the 18th century, large drinking bowls like this one were were no longer used as actual tableware but were rather awarded as gifts by the sovereign and proudly displayed at home by their recipients.
