Pair of French Baccarat Chrysoprase 'Uranium' Green Opaline Art Glass Vases
It is hard to praise these vases enough. This color was invented in the 1840s in France. Occasionally clumsy attempts to imitate them are found but these are plainly the right stuff. From knobbly ovoid base to flaring trumpet-shaped mouth they proclaim their originality. Even the gilding is miraculously intact and original. We have not refreshed it in any way. The bumps were never gilded. For a very similar example see Christine Vincedeau’s Les Opalines. These are larger, and a pair.
