This luxurious encrier de bureau is raised on scrolling and leafy feet mounting a malachite-finished base. The tray itself is modelled as a shell rising to a spring-loaded pen holder. The animal grips the pen between its teeth. The flanking covered inkwells are decorated in typical Louis XV1 style.
