Grand Tour Bronze of Venus after Giambologna
This charming reduction is indisputably antique. It has a wonderful patina, slightly disturbed at the raised heal and more shiney on her bottom (a result of whistful carressing, no doubt). It is offered mounted on a spelter shaped plinth with original flaking black paint and later mounted on a black painted wooden block. The whole bronze has lots of accretions of dust in the crevices which we include at no extra charge. We leave all this in place because it proves that it is the real thing! It would be the work of a moment to wash it off.
It was bought from an old established Montreal family who may well have bought it themselves.
