This fine example dates from the third quarter of the 19th century and has many of the characteristics of a period piece. The two-tone kingwood veneer is exceptionally well-chosen, the bronze figural mounts are of high quality and well modelled. The desk top has a gilt tooled burgundy leather surface, newly applied and held in place by a highly decorative molded bronze surround. There are three frieze drawers flanked by crisply modelled gilt bronze mounts. It is raised on shapely cabriole legs with acanthus appliques and sabots. The wood surfaces have been lightly polished and the bronze mounts cleaned and waxed. It is in showroom condition for your special room
