We call this type of high-quality chandelier a Maria Therese. It is chiefly distinguished from others by the fact that the arms are of flat metal but clad with crystal and applied with rosettes. They come in numerous sizes. They are a specialty of what is now the Czech Republic. This example has two tiers one of 6 lights the other of 12 and is itself illuminated by a single additional light below. It is hung with swags and dressed with crystals, large and small. It is of substantial proportions and would grace an entranceway or perhaps a large dining area.
