Antique Regency Birdseye Maple Writing Table, Tooled leather top, 1830

A fine quality English Regency bird-eye maple writing table or desk. The rectangular table with canted sides and canted corners in figured birds-eye maple; with a gilt-tooled burgundy leather writing surface over a frieze drawer with original brass drawer pull. This functional and elegant table is supported by four turned legs with baluster knees and reeded detail, with matching two horizontal stretchers united by a matching vertical one. The legs terminate on the original brass castors. There is a dummy drawer to the back, enabling the table to be seen in the round. 
Traditionally hand restored and in excellent condition.
 
This is a top quality antique writing table, crafted in the typical Gillows style that would add distinction to a den, office, library, or any room requiring an elegant writing surface.
