Good French 1st. Empire Console

A good French 1st. Empire "Retour d'Egypte" Console, the rectangular surface with later black marble top above a single frieze drawer, supported by a pair of caryatids modeled as female heads, on platform base, with mirrored back.

This furniture became fashionable after Napoleon's return from Egypt. This was purchased from the estate of John Russell.
