Large Pair of Antique Chinese Sang Boeuf Pear-Shaped Vases
This pair are of a color that has more purple than sang-de-bouf has typically. I hope our photos catch the subtlety of the shade. It is difficult to describe such a nuanced and complex tone. They are not precisely the same size but are very slightly different. They are hand-thrown. We feel these date from the second half of the 19th century.
We note that one neck has been restored and there is a dimple in the side of one which has also been restored. The overall appearance is very pleasing and not compromised by these interventions.
