A fine pair of Louis XVI style gilt bronze two-light wall sconces by E F Caldwell of New York, each oval backplate modeled in low relief with an allegorical figure, the muse Calliope. The stem, candle cups and arms are cast with stylized acanthus, surmounted by a ribbon tie and with arms hung with chains and tassels. Fully marked.
