Pair of Belle Époque Louis XVI Style Bronze-Dore Wall Sconces
It is difficult to convey in a photo the massive and weighty quality of this pair and the boldness of the design. The back plate is gadrooned and applied with acanthus ornament and supports a lobed ball that in turn supports two massive arms modelled as tapering horn shaped palms which support the large candle lights. These are spectacular quality and are of a type we used to see in major public buildings in Montreal.
