Although unmarked this Coromandel wood box was clearly made for a major retailer in the London luxury goods trade.The top rises to reveal an array of silver mounted bottles , hallmarked for London , London 1896 by Thomas Whitehouse.. There is a velvet lined jewlery drawer. Both for travel and for home use, such a case was an important part of a lady's daily routine.
