An antique orientalist chandelier, the central Islamic brass bowl is finely
hand engraved with scenes and forms the main focus of a late 19th century French chandelier which takes up the theme and adds the fretwork brass panels and various repeating borders details. The eight lights are well-reflected by the gleaming bowl.
This seems to us to have come from an orientalist style smoking room. There was a fashion for these at the end of the 19th century.
