This is a reduction of the famous Roman copy in marble of the now lost Greek original. It is uncertain whether this is of a real woman or the Venus. She is celebrated for her beautiful buttocks, as the Greek name suggests. Cast in the first half of the 19th century, this was no doubt brought away by a British visitor in pursuit of education in high culture. It seems to have light traces of metal showing through; the patina and crisp modelling suggest an early piece.

There is lots of information on this celebrated figure on Wikepedia.
