Superb and rare pair of zoomorphic candlesticks from the late 19th or early 20th century. Representing a circus bear holding a pole, with a cub climbing up high on the pole, ending in a candle cup. The bear has a open mouth as if shouting directions at the cub and the expression on his face is highly realistic. Each bear is surrounded by various circus objects such as knives, pins, dumbbells and circus balls. The casting of the whole is of great finesse. A rare pair, original and very decorative.
